About the Artist
Lena Grace MacDonald is a metalsmith artist from the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains who currently resides in Bradenton, FL with her husband and daughter. When not in the studio, her hands are in the dirt, cultivating her regenerative food forest.
Lena attended North Georgia University and received a BA degree in Art Education. Her love for Metalsmithing began when she attended a jewelry-making course at John C. Campbell Folk School (JCCFS).
Since then, she has continued to work hard to advance her skills, attending courses at JCCFS, William Holland School of Lapidary Arts, and absorbs countless online tutorials & jewelry making blogs.
Inspired by the natural world and that everything is connected, her work reveals the synergy of having lived in the mountains and now by the sea. She utilizes a wide range of materials as part of her design process to reflect her journey.
Her hand worked jewelry utilizes different techniques of hammering and soldering to construct a framework made of brass, copper and silver, gemstones, bones and antlers. She constructs her works of art with complimentary shapes to create a sense of beauty and balance, with natural elements that serve as tiny sculptures created in their most raw uncut form.
Lena thrives to make everyone who wears her jewelry feel a sense of beauty and home.
